Every Moment Sketch Challenge

On Saturday I attended the Stampin’ Up Regional Seminar in Sydney.

During the day there was training, make and takes as well as some wonderful presentations from other demonstrators and Head Office Staff.

One of the presentations was on Water Colouring and Masking.

I had forgotten how much I enjoy water colouring, so I came home last night and used the Every Moment Stamp Set and did some water colouring.

I created a card for the sketch challenge which has been displayed on a site called ‘Create with Connie and Mary’.

The sketch challenge is number CCMC 125 and you can view the sketch by clicking here.

As I am water colouring I have stamp my image with StazOn and then I have picked the colour up from the ink pads with my Aqua Painter.

The sketch layout has been created in a Portrait layout but I have created my card in a landscape layout.  The card uses two of the new In Colours ink pads – Pear Pizzazz and Peach Parfait.

This sketch is very versatile and I will definitely use it again.

Elegant Soiree Sketch Challenge

Hi, I am back – finally I have had a chance to post another card.

I found another card challenge at Stamping411 and I have used the lovely Elegant Soiree DSP to create a card in this layout.

The layout is SSC177 and you can click the link above to look at the layout and other cards that have been created.

For my card I have used the Friends Never Fade stamp set and I really like the basic rhinestones so I have added a little ‘bling’ inside the Filigree Designer Brad.

I inked up the Friends Never Fade image in Crumb Cake and then rolled the stamp in the Baja Breeze which added a different effect to the image.

If you are stuck for a layout on your next card have a look at some of these websites, they can give you some great layout ideas.

The sketch number I have used is number #76 and this sketch can be viewed by clicking here.

For this card I have used the lovely Elegant Soiree DSP and the colours used in this DSP packet include Baja Breeze, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Basic Grey.

Dasher Christmas Card

This lovely stamp ‘Dasher’ is a great little stamp for quick Christmas Cards.

I wanted to create a card in non-traditional colours and I have used the ‘Dasher’ stamp with a Marina Mist and Crumb Cake combination.

I have embossed the Marina Mist cardstock with the Big Shot Embossing Folder ‘Elegant Bouquet’ and I have added a little ‘bling’  too.

 Dasher Christmas

Supplies:
Stamp set: Dasher, Snow Swirled
Card: Marina Mist, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Ink: Marina Mist, Early Expresso
Accessories:  Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder, 3/8” (1 cm) Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon, Basic Rhinestones,  Dimensonals, SNAIL Adhesive

I do not mind the colours together and I get a really Christmas feel from the card.

I do not think a greeting should go on the outside but would add one to the inside.

Let me know what you think by leaving a comment.

Until next time, keep creating and thanks for stopping bye.

Curtain Call Colour Challenge # 53

I am really liking the sketch and colour challenge blogs/sites I have been finding and the latest challenge I used for some inspiration was from the Curtain Call Colour Challenge # 53.

This colour challenge had a Halloween feel to it and used the colours:

Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray, Whisper White, Basic Black and Pumpkin Pie

These are definitely not colours I would normally use together but I enjoy creating the card below and I am happy with the way the card turned out.

Christmas Stamper Stack.

Unfortunately I seem to leave my Christmas creative moments until just before Christmas, so a group of friends decided to come over and attend a stamper stack class so that we could all get a start on our cards for Christmas.

Below are the two cards I created for the class with the new Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive as the main colours.

christmas adjusted

The first card uses the very versatile set Seasons of Joy ( Page 20 in the 2010/2011 Idea Book & Catalogue).  I have also added ‘bling’ on the star.

season joy amended 2

Supplies:
Stamp set: Season of Joy
Card: Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink: Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories:  Early Expresso Marker, 2” x 1-3/8” (5 x 3.5 cm)Oval Extra Large, Basic Rhinestones,  Dimensonals, SNAIL Adhesive

The second card uses the lovely Contempo Christmas set (page 23 in the 2010/2011 Idea Book & Catalogue).

I have stamped the tree in Old Olive and then coloured in the main part of the tree with the Cherry Cobbler marker – remember when you use this little trick do not forget to ‘huff’ before you stamp!

I did not think I would use the  new 1-1/4” (3.2 cm) Striped Grosgrain Ribbons but they  just adds a little more to the card.

Sketch Challenge

I have been browsing and found a few sketch and colour challenge websites/blogs.

One of the sites is Karin Giron’s Blog called The Sweetest Thing and each Sunday a new sketch challenge is posted.

Another web site called Skipping Stone Design, post challenges weekly on a Tuesday.

Last week Skipping Stone Design worked with The Sweetest Thing’s Sweet Sunday Sketch #73 and you could either create a card using the sketch or make a ‘pink’ themed card for Breast Cancer Awareness week.

I like the layout and I like the ‘pink’ theme so below is the card that I had fun creating.

Greenhouse Gala Trio

When I looked at the Greenhouse Gala DSP, I was not real sure I should purchase it as it seems very bright and not normally my style but it has provide a new challenge and the colours have grown on me.

The Greenhouse Gala DSP can be found on page 125 of the current catalogue and this DSP contains the following colours: Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie and Baja Breeze.

Some of the colours found in the DSP provide me with inspirations for the following three cards.

Greenhouse Gala trio

The first card I create used a large sample of the DSP and a some of the lovely pumpkin pie cardstock.  This card should make any friend feel bright :)

Accessories:  Greenhouse Gala DSP, Scallop Edge Border Punch,  Dimensionals, Basic Grey Taffeta Ribbon (Retired), SNAIL Adhesive

You know how sometimes things just fall together, well this is what basically happened with this card.

I punched out some circles from DSP paper and placed them on the card and the result is below.

It was late at night when I finished the last card and I wondered what effect I would get if I cut the DSP and sort of layered it with a little space in between.

I also stamped and cut out  flowers from the Friends Never Fade set (on page 71 of the current catalogue) and added a touch of Dazzling Diamonds in the centre of each flower.

I like the end result - another bright happy card to give someone.

Newsprint DSP with a touch of love…

One of the new Designer Series Paper (DSP) in the new catalogue is the called Newsprint and there are many ways this paper could be used for cards or scrapbooking.

The DSP is printed on a Very Vanilla base with Basic Black print and can be seen on page 127 of the current catalogue.

I created the two cards below and using images from Artistic Etchings, Elements of Style & Occasional Quotes stamp sets.

newsprint double

The first card I created used the new cherry cobbler – isn’t it a wonderful rich colour.  I also used the saying from the Elements of Style stamp set.

Wedding invitations

Hi everyone, sorry for not posting earlier things have been very busy.

The wedding invitations as mentioned in my previous post, have been completing for a friend and posted.

These invitations are the second lot of wedding invitations I have completed this year and I am really enjoying creating invites.

The first invites I created were for a wedding in March this year and my little girl was a flower girl. She looked beautiful and I was very proud of her.

The bride had requested a theme of black, red and white and we finally found a design that she like and it was using one of my favourite stamp sets – Baroque Motifs.

This was one of the first sets I brought and I have used this set so many times.

If you are not sure of the set it appears on page 100 of the current catalogue and it is pictured below.

baroque motifs

I also used a number of the swirls from the Priceless set – this set is on page 90 of the current catalogue.

A picture of the front of the card is below and when you opened the wedding invitations, the main details of the card were in the centre of the layout and there was a pocket on the right hand side of the card were the Wishing Well and RSVP cards were kept.

The menu and table cards were also created in Black, Red and White and I stamped the swirl from the Priceless set on the these items.

The ribbon crossed over the front and the inside pocket of the card.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Priceless & Baroque Motifs
Card: Real Red, Basic Black and Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black and Real Red
Accessories: Whisper White 3/8” Taffeta Ribbon,  SNAIL Adhesive

The second invitations were created using a set I liked from the moment I saw it - For the Bride.

Unfortunately this set has retired but I have posted these invites as they may provide you with inspiration to create something similar.

The Bride on this occasion was not sure what she wanted in regards to a colour theme and in the end we settled on Black, White and Grey.

The front of the card was very simple with the bride stamp being the main image with a little paper piercing in the corner.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: For the Bride (retired)
Card: Basic Black, Whisper White and non-SU metallic grey cardstock
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories:  1-3/4” x 7/8” (4.4 x 2.2 cm) Oval Large Punch, 2” x 1-3/8” (5 x 3.5 cm)  Oval Large Punch,  SNAIL Adhesive, Dimensionals. Mat Pack, Paper-Piercing Tool, Bone Folder, Whisper White envelopes

The initials of the bride and groom were printed and punched out.  Two dimensionals were placed on one side of the punched ovals so that the card was held close by tucking the bride image under the initials.  This can be seen in the picture below.

bride invite open

The bride image was stamped on each RSVP and the envelope as per the images below.

bride rsvp   bride envelope

I am in the process of completing the table menus and place cards for this wedding.

The brides were happy with the invites and isn’t that the main aim! :)

I have found sometime over the past few days to create a few new cards from the new catalogue and I will post them over the next few days.

Thanks for stopping by!

Till next time - Meg

New Catalogue is here…

Finally I have had a chance to update my blog with the new Idea Book & Catalogue 2010/11 link – so if you have not had a look you can click here or click on the icon on the blog.

I am currently completing my second lot of wedding invitations for the year, although it is very time consuming – hence the slow updates to my blog, I am really enjoying the challenge.

I love helping the bride make a choice of colours and agreeing on a layout.  This time I have stamped the envelopes with the main stamp image and I am really happy with final result.

The first lot of invitations I made were a combination of Real Read, Basic Black and Whisper White and the main image used was the large swirl from the Baroque Motifs set.  This versatile set was one of the first stamping sets I brought and I have used it many times.

The current invitations use a colour combination of Basic Black, Whisper White and Metallic Grey (Non-SU).

I will post some pictures this weekend of both invitations, so you can have a look at the layouts and the finished products.

I am very excited about getting a little time to sit and get those creative thoughts going and use some of the new products in the catalogue – hopefully this weekend.

Thanks for visiting – keep creating !

Stampers Anonymous Blog Hop

Welcome to our Stampers Anonymous SU blog tour! Tonight we are delighted to show you projects using products that were available to us in our demo sneak peek from the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue.

You may have just come from Marelle Taylor’s blog, but if you are starting here, don’t worry … you can make the complete tour just by following the links at the end of each post. There are 14 stops along the way and we hope you will visit each one to see the wonderful creations we have to show you! Please feel free to leave some comment love along the way …

At the end of each post there will be a link to take you to the next stop on the tour.

So grab a cuppa, sit back and enjoy!

The new catalogue has some great sets and bold Designer Series Papers.

For this Blog Hop I have used the Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper and I really love the colour combination.

The paper uses the new colours Pear Pizzazz and Daffodil Delight with some old favourites including Chocolate Chip, Real Read, Pumpkin Pie and Baja Breeze.

It has been sometime since I have used Pumpkin Pie and I found it goes really well with the  Chocolate Chip, maybe that will be my next challenge to create some more cards using Pumpkin Pie.

But for now I have created a small tote bag with some co-coordinating cards.  I put off creating 3-D projects as I think it may take too long but I was really surprised how quick this bag was to create and how much fun I had creating it.  So if you have been putting off creating a 3-D project – I would suggest you just give it a go.

This little bag  could hold 4 cards with envelopes and is a great gift idea.

I have used the quote “Thank You for your Kindness” from the Occasional Quotes Hostess set and layered it on two punched Pumpkin Pie Scallop Oval pieces.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Friends Never Fade, Occasional Quotes (Hostess)

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: Scallop Oval Extra-Large, 1 -3/4” x 7/8” Oval Large and Scallop Edge Border Punches, Stampin’ Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive, Sticky Strip, Greenhouse Gala DSP

The Greenhouse Gala DSP was used on both the cards and the bag.  The new stamp set Friends Never Fade co-ordinates well with this paper.

Both cards were quick to make and I really love the saying from the Friends Never Fade stamp set which reads -  “Friends are Flowers that Never Fade” -  How true is that!

Card: Chocolate Chip,  Certainly Celery, Whisper White

This was not how I was going to layer this card, I had planned to use just a touch of Pumpkin Pie card stock but I like the bright cheery end result of the card.

Pink Flamingo – Two Step Stamping

Sometimes I find that I cannot decide on what colour combination to use or maybe I just need something new, so I like to use the colours within the Designer Series Papers as an challenge and/or inspiration.

The Pink Flamingo Designer Series Paper contains a lot of bright colours that I would not normally use and in each card I have used the paper as the background.

The colours within the Pink Flamingo DSP are Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Summer Sun & Cameo Coral.

In the cards below I have used the retiring colour Cameo Coral and a little bit more two step stamping by using the Wonderful Favourites stamp set.

Colour Renovation…retiring colours

From 1 September the Stampin' Up!’ colour collection will be changing into four new collections:

Subtles, Brights, Regals and Neutrals.

But in order to make way for these changes, there are a number of colours that will be retiring and some of them I am very sad to see go, like Orchid Opulence, Brocade Blue, Really Rust and Going Grey to name a few.

We have been informed that stock in these retiring colours will only be available while stocks last!

So if you have been wanting the inkpad, re-inker, cardstock, markers, ribbons, brads etc. in these colours you should place your order as soon as possible.

Hi everyone,

Hope you have had a great week!

This weekend if all goes to plan, I might just get time to create some cards and send out some long over due RAKS! and post some new pictures.

Also the last deal of the week for June has been released and if you were looking to add so sparkle or ribbon to your creations then one of these deals may catch your attention.

New creations…

My wish list for the autumn-winter mini catalogue is rather long , so I challenged myself to make some cards by only using limited items from the mini.

With limited images, punched items, DSP samples and Big Shot cut-outs, I created the cards below and the cards I made in the Blog Hop.

I must admit that this has not helped reduce the wish list but it was a great challenge.

This card was quick to make and I really like the soft look.

This is the other quick card and I am happy with how it turned out.
