Off to Conference

Just a quick note to let you know that I will be missing in action for the next few days as I am off to the Stampin Up Conference in Canberra.

I believe that the temperature there is a lot cooler than Sydney – they have been having minus 1 in the mornings, I just shiver thinking about it but I am looking forward to seeing what I can be inspired to create and catching up with some fellow crafters.

I will have limited if any access to the computer but I will catch up when I get back on Sunday.

Thanks for swinging by, keep well and keep creating….. Meg

Christmas Birds

Hi everyone,

Ready for some more Christmas Cards – I am!

It’s a new challenge at Holly Jolly Christmas and this week Julie has picked the challenge –
Tweet Christmas.

So what type of Christmas bird would you use?  For some inspiration click here and pop over to see what the other members of the Design Team have created and join in the fun!

Well for my Christmas Birds, I have gone for Christmas Owls and they are both dressed up for Christmas.

I do not really have any Christmas Bird images and so I went surfing on the internet and found a punch art tutorial which was created by Rebecca at Stamp 4 Joy using the Owl Builder and Bird Builder punches.

So I found all my scraps and started punching.  The Owls bodies were embossed in the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder before they were punched out.

The Owl’s hat’s have been created using the wing from the bird punch and the trim is created using the Word Window punch.

The branch was hand drawn on a scrap piece of paper to create a template and then I used the template to give the outline to cut out on a piece of the Well Worn DSP.  I added a little Early Espresso ink to the outside edges of the branch when it was cut out.

The snow flakes from the Snow Swirled set were added to the base card, which is Old Olive have been stamped in Old Olive ink. Of course there is ‘bling’ added for good measure, love my ‘bling’.

The sentiment is also from the Snow Swirled stamp set and has been stamped in Cherry Cobbler, punched out using the Decorative Label punch.

The edges of the Top Note Whisper White layer and the sentiment have had Old Olive ink added with a dauber.

Here is my card….

Window Card

Hi everyone,

Hope that you are well and that you weekend has been good.

Its time for a new challenge at Come and Get It Challenges and this week it is Window Cards.

So what would you create for this challenge?

For some inspiration pop over and see the rest of the Design Team have created and join us, we would love to see your creations!!

For my card I have created a house window, I was inspired by the tutorial I found here which was created by Kristina Werner.

I have used Pear Pizzazz for the base of my card with Blushing Bride, Perfect Plum and Whisper White cardstock.

The curtains have been created using some of the Nursery Nest DSP and my butterflies using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die.  Besides ‘bling’ this Die would have to be the next most used item in my stash :)

The sentiment is from Perfects Words Hostess set and I have stamped it on a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock in Perfect plum.

The sentiment reads “ Amazing, Awesome, Talented… You”

Here is the front of my card:

A Splash of Colour

Hi everyone,

Just a quick card I wanted to share with you.

I have used the current colour challenge at The Play Date Cafe , Black and White with a splash of Mustard – interesting don’t you think?

I was inspired by the current challenge at CASE Study Challenges for the layout and the butterflies - you can see the challenge here.

I have used Basic Black for the base of my card, added a layer of Whisper White card stock and some of the Speciality DSP Mocha Morning.

I created a tag and then created a border on the bottom with the Eyelet Boarder Punch.  My splash of colour is More Mustard and  I have used a dauber to add some ink to the edges of the tag.

I used the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die and created some butterflies in Basic Black, More Mustard and Whisper White.  I created three butterflies, layered them together using the three colours and added some ‘bling’ to the top layer.

The top of the tag has some ribbon- Basic Black Grosgrain and Whisper White Taffeta.  The sentiment is from the Tagtastic Hostess set.

The Tag, sentiment and butterflies were added to the card using dimensionals.

Here is my card….

Holly Jolly Penguin

Hi everyone,

It’s time for another challenge at Holly Jolly Christmas and this week I am hosting the challenge.

The challenge is Anything Goes with Ribbon.  So if want to get ahead start on your Christmas cards pop over and check out what the other Design Team members have created and join in the fun.  I have posted the link here.

My card was created using Old Olive, Real Red and Whisper White cardstock.  I stamped some snow swirls from the Snow Swirled stamp set in Old Olive ink to create a background on the Old Olive cardstock.

The image is the Sponsors image and I have coloured part of the Penguin image in using Stampin’ Pastels Basic Grey.  The Penguin’s scarf and beanie have been coloured in with Real Read and Old Olive ink using the Aqua Painter. At the ends of the scarf and beanie I have added a touch of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint on top of the Real Red ink and some on the trim and ear muffs of the beanie.

I have also used the Top Note Die to cut out the image and cut out another piece of cardstock (Real Red) with the Top Note Die and layered the two together.  I added a touch Real Red ink with a dauber to the edges of the image layer.

The sentiment is from the Perfect Punches stamp set and has been stamped twice and the words have been punched and layered with dimensions on the first image.  The two layers have then been added to the card with dimensionals.  The ribbon is a retired Real Red ribbon.

Oh and of course I could not resist and added some ‘bling’  - Love my ‘bling’ :)

It’s sketch challenge time at Come and Get IT challenges, if you are up for a challenge pop over and see what the Design Team have created and join in the fun!!

The colours I had in my head to create my card  just didn’t work but eventually something clicked and I have used Island Indigo for the base of my card with some Cherry Cobbler card stock.  I  added some of the Timeless Portrait DSP also.

The image is the sponsors image and I have coloured Little Miss Bitty in with the aqua painter using River Rock, Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede, Blushing Bride and Daffodil Delight ink.

The image has been cut out using Spellbinders Nestabilities which I haven’t used before – bad I know.  The sentiment is from the My Friend stamp set.

Pink CAS

Hi everyone,

Clean and simple (CAS) cards are always a challenge for me as I automatically go for layers.  So I wanted to try the current challenge at Less is More which is to create a one layer card with
3 stamps.

Yes this was definately a challenge for me. I had lots of ideas but nothing was working and I nearly gave up.  In the end I just started to try out different things to see what worked.

In the end I settled on Very Vanilla card stock and a monochromatic look in pink.  I have used Regal Rose, Melon Mambo and Pretty in Pink for the inks.

I have used two stamp sets Word Play – love all the sentiments in this set and the Vintage Vogue stamp set which I have not used for a while.

I stamped the sentiment in Melon Mambo in the left hand corner of the card and then created a sort of border with the swirly flowery image from the Vintage Vogue set. This was stamped in Pretty in Pink.

I left a space near the end of the swirly border and stamped the smaller flower image in the space in Regal Rose ink.

Couldn’t resist adding some bling to the flower :)

Here is my card:

Special Card

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share a card I recently made for a friend at work.

She is getting married this year and it was her birthday so I have combined the two in the card I gave her.

I have used my favourite bride image from The Bride stamp set which unfortunately has retired on a very clean and simple layout.

Her wedding theme is Black, White and Red, so I add a touch of red with the eyelet border punch.

There is a single rhinestone in the brides hair and the image was added to the card with dimensionals.

Here’s my card….

Christmas Stocking Card

Hi everyone,

Well it is our second challenge at Holly Jolly Christmas.  If you haven’t had a look yet, come over and meeting everyone and join in the fun!!!

This week’s challenge is by Judy and the theme is Christmas Stockings.

I do not have any Christmas stocking images and I could have loaned a set from someone but I had been surfing on the internet, I know bad mistake.  When I do this I find so much inspiration and bookmark so many pages to come back too and time just flies by.

Anyway I found a video on U-Tube which created a Christmas Stocking with DSP and I booked marked it for this challenge.

The DSP for my stocking is from the Letters to Santa pack and the base of the stocking is in Old Olive cardstock.

I also found the Faux Patina technique on Splitcoaststampers which intrigued me. This technique uses an embossing folder and ink. I thought I could use it on my stocking so I have given this ago also.

The colours that I used to create my Faux Patina look were Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, Old Olive and Early Espresso.  I did not have gold embossing folder so I went through my stash and found silver instead.  This is such a quick and different look and I think I will try it again with some different colours.

The Faux Patina was added to the top, corner and toe of my stocking with some of the Whisper White Organza Ribbon.

The image Joy at Christmas image from the Perfect Punches stamp set was stamped on Whisper White cardstock with Riding Hood Red and added it to the front of the card with Dimensionals.

Here is my card…

You can see a little of the colour under the silver embossing powder but next time I would try less embossing power and see how that turns out.

For now I happy with my little Christmas Stocking card.

Bunch of Flowers

Hi everyone,

Hope you have had a great weekend or are having a great weekend.

We have had a lovely Mother’s Day here today, the weather was a little cool in the shade but the sun was warm.  I think it got to a top of about 19⁰C.

Well we have a new challenge at Come and Get It Challenges this week.
A colour challenge -  Chocolate Chip, Marina Mist and Regal Rose.

So I have created my card around this colour challenge and the sketch layout is from Try Stampin On Tuesday.

I have changed the layout of the card from Landscape to Portrait and used Chocolate Chip for the base of my card.

The layer of Regal Rose card stock has been stamped with the En Francais script stamp in Regal Rose ink.

I have coloured the image in using the Aqua Painter and the Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip and Marina Mist inks.

I added a very small touch of Pear Pizzazz to the leaves of the flowers with a cotton ball before I coloured the flowers in with Regal Rose ink. The face of the little boy has also been added with a very small amount of Regal Rose ink rubbed on with a cotton ball.

The strip of Chocolate Chip card stock has been embossed using the Big Shot and the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

The main image has been added to the Regal Rose cardstock with Dimensionals.

Here is my card….

With Love…

Hi everyone,

Just a quick post to share with you a card I created using the colour challenge at Dynamic Duos and the sketch challenge at Clean & Simple #189.

The colour challenge at Dynamic Duos is their first challenge and the colours are Pool Party & Lucky Limeade and I have used Very Vanilla for my neutral card stock.

I have used the Framed Tulip Textured Embossing for the border on the Very Vanilla cardstock which is layered on Lucky Limeade base card.

Added a few more layers one in Lucky Limeade and one in Very Vanilla. I rounded the corners on one side of the Very Vanilla layer and stamped the flower stem image from Fabulous Florets stamp set (retired). The sentiment is from the Field Flowers set.

I added two butterflies in Pool Party, which were created using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die and they have been added to the card with dimensionals and dressed up with some ‘bling’.

Flowers & Butterflies

Hi everyone,

Hope that your week is going fine and that you are all well.

I have posted before that at times I take my inspiration from the colour choices in Design Series Papers and I must say one of my favourite papers at the moment is the Attic Boutique DSP in the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue.

The paper has colours: Poppy Parade, Pool Party, Soft Suede, Daffodil Delight, Very Vanilla and Whisper White.

I wanted to use some yellow and I knew I had some Daffodil Delight ribbon, so used a section of the DSP with some Daffodil Delight on it.

So my colour choices are Daffodil Delight, Pool Party and Soft Suede and Very Vanilla.

I have used my ribbon, ‘bling’ of course and something that I rarely use - some pearls, so I have gone very girly!  I am collecting a number of cards Mum would like, so my choice for Mother’s Day will be interesting :)

The sketch for my card is from Sketchy Colors and you can see it here.

I have used the Just Believe stamp set and my Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die.  If you haven’t used this die, it embosses the butterflies and cuts them out in one go!  I keep the extra butterflies that I do not use in a container and they always come in handy.

The image was stamped in Daffodil Delight and sort of wiped with the Soft Suede inkpad before I stamped it on Very Vanilla card stock.

Here is my card:

P1000146_edited-1

Supplies:

Stamp set: Just Believe

Card: Soft Suede, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Very Vanilla
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede

Accessories:  Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die, 1/4” (6.4 mm) Daffodil Delight Grosgrain Ribbon, Daffodil Delight Satin Ribbon (Retired), Basic Rhinestones, Pearls, Attic Boutique DSP,  Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive

I nearly gave up with the layout because I could get the right look but once I added the other piece of DSP on the top section of the card, I was happy.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Holly Jolly Christmas Angel

Hi everyone,

I am so excited to be part of the Design Team at Holly Jolly Christmas, a weekly Christmas Challenge that is kicking off today!

I don’t know about you but I always leave the creation of my Christmas cards until the very last minute.   So now I get to combine my love of crafting and build up a supply of Christmas cards in advance - what bonus!

I have create my card with the colours from the colour challenge at Holly Jolly Christmas – Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke and Early Espresso and I have added Whisper White as my neutral cardstock.

I have used Always Artichoke for the base of my card and embossed a piece of Early Espresso card stock in the big shot using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.

The image is a Bugaboo Image called Christmas Words Angel and I have printed the image on Whisper White Cardstock and Cherry Cobbler.  I cut out the Angel’s dress from the Cherry Cobbler image and layered it with dimensionals on top of the Whisper White image.

I have used the Color Spritzer Tool to add some Cherry Cobbler ink to the Angel word and some Cherry Cobbler and Always Artichoke ink to the Always Artichoke card.

I added a strip of Cherry Cobbler card to the Always Artichoke base card and attached the Whisper White Organza Ribbon to one end.  Now have I mentioned that I love this ribbon!

I punched out scallop edge boarder with some scrap Whisper White card stock and attached it to the embossed Early Espresso card stock.  This piece of cardstock was then added to the card front on top of the Cherry Cobbler strip.

I created a bow in the ribbon and stuck it down on the Early Espresso piece of card with a dimensional.

The angel word was added last with dimensionals.  I did not have star punch but my daughter did :)    and she was very was happy to share it with me.

The stars have been added to the card with dimensionals and they have a touch of ‘bling’!  The little star in the left hand corner is my interpretation of a shooting star :)

Here is my card:

Guy inspiration

Hi everyone,

I have some very exciting news -  I have been asked to join the Come and Get It Challenge (CAGI)Design Team for the next 4 months beginning May.

So I want to share with you my card I have created for the current challenge at CAGI which is  for the Guys.

Don’t we all get stuck for with those guy cards, so this challenge is helping me build up my stash!

I have used the colours Soft Suede, More Mustard, Pool Party and Whisper White for my colour inspirations.

The stamp set used is the Nature’s Nest and the sentiment is from the Hostess stamp set Perfect Words.

The base of the card is Soft Suede and I cut a piece of Pool Party card stock and stamped the peacock feather from the stamp set on the card stock with Pool Party ink to create a little background.

I embossed a strip of More Mustard cardstock with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder in the Big Shot.  I then punched one side out with the Scallop Edge Border Punch.

The turtle has been stamped on the piece of Whisper White cardstock in Soft Suede and I added some More Mustard around the edge of the card with a dauber.

I inked the image again in More Mustard and added some highlights on the image with the Soft Suede marker before I stamped it on Whisper White scrap cardstock.

The second image on scrap was cut out and layered on the Soft Suede image with dimensionals.  I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the sentiment.

I linked the layer of the Spice Cake DSP and main image with an antique brad thru the corners. These brads are another of my favourites and I often forget about them, maybe that is because I am running low and I am using them sparingly :)

Here is my card:

Blue Butterflies

Hi everyone,

I have used the Clean and Simple sketch 187! to create my very blue butterfly card.

At first I was not sure what to do with the sketch and I tried a number of different stamps but I have again used the Creative Element stamp set.  I really love this set – it has a butterfly which I like, the swirls and the flower, what more could a girl ask for!

I decided I want to use a shade of colours. At first I was going to use plum/purple but came back to blue as I wanted to use Marina Mist as it is such lovely blue.  So the colours used were Marina Mist and Bashful Blue.

The base of the card is Marina Mist card stock and I have inked the swirl from the stamp set in Marina Mist ink and created a soft swirly background.  I added a touch of Marina Mist ink to the outside of the Whisper White piece and some retired Marina Mist Taffeta Ribbon.

I stamped the flower image on scrap paper twice in Marina Mist and twice in Bashful Blue.  Two Marina Mist images were punched out with the 1” circle punch and layered on Bashful Blue cardstock which had been punched out with the 1 1/4” circle punch.  The two Bashful Blue images were punched out with the 1 1/4” circle punch.

The smaller circle were layered on the card first then the Bashful Blue circles were overlapped and had dimensionals adhered to the back.  The butterfly was stamped in Marina Mist and cut out and then I added a double layer of dimensionals so that it was layered a little higher then then larger circles.

The sentiment used is from a retired set but it just seemed to suit the card.

Here is my card:

Clean & Simple – My Friend

HI everyone,

I have a quick Clean and Simple (CAS) card to share with you.

The layout of the card is from the Less is More challenges and I have used the square sketch.

The main cardstock and ink used is Perfect Plum and the sentiment is from the My Friend stamp set.

The square is 6.5 cm x 6.5 cm and I have scored a single line at 0.5 cm on each side which you can just see in the photo.

I have stamped the flower image from the Creative Elements stamp set in the middle of the square.  I then stamped the image a further 2 times on scrap paper and cut out a few different sections and layered them on the main image with dimensionals.

Here’s my card:
