Use It Tuesday Guest Designer

Hi everyone,

A little while ago I was lucky enough to be picked as a winner for one of my cards at Use It Tuesday Challenges and I was asked to join them in one of the their upcoming challenges.

So I am very thrilled to be joining them for their current challenge which is to :

Make Something Patriotic for any Country.

Do you still need some inspiration ?  Well you can pop over to the Use It Tuesday blog by clicking here and see what great creations the Design Team have made to help inspire you!

What did I do?

I could not go past my home country and with some many wonderful things here in Australia, I had a hard time picking one thing.

I do not have any Australian stamps, so I have decided to see what I could come up with using the punches in my stash!

I found wonderful inspiration to create so many great projects at Valita’s Designs.  Vatlita is a very talented lady and you can check out her blog here.

After some other searching I found Valita’s video on U-Tube to create an Australian Gum Blossom Card.  The link to the video has been added if would like to have a look.

Australian Gum Blossoms are found on our Eucalyptus Trees.  The blossoms are normally a red colour and they are housed in little nut case.

I have created one open blossom and one that is still opening both using Cherry Cobbler cardstock and the nut case is in Soft Suede.

I have added some extra Soft Suede ink to the nut case which has been created using the Blossom Petal Builder and the 1 3/8” Circle Punch.

The Cherry Cobbler cardstock was cut and the tips of the open blossom were dipped in gold glitter.

My leaves have been created using the Blossom Petals Builder and the Little Leaves Sizzlit Die.  The card stock is Old Olive and Early Espresso.  The sentiment is from the Occasional Quotes stamp set.

Here is my card….

Holly Jolly Bingo

Hi everyone,

Ready for a new Christmas Challenge?  We are over at Holly Jolly Christmas and this week we are playing Bingo!

Cindy is the host of this week’s challenge and the Bingo board looks like this:

glitter

brads

ribbon

ornaments

Free

snowflakes

red

green

blue

Still need some inspiration, check out what all the other Christmas Elves have created by clicking here!

What is my Bingo choice?  I have chosen Ribbon, Snowflakes and Blue.

I have used the Snow Swirled stamp set and the base of my card is Marina Mist – love this colour!

I have added a piece of Whisper White card stock and I have embossed about half of the cardstock in the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

I have stamped on some scrap paper the smaller snowflakes from the stamp set in Marina Mist ink and then punched them out using the circle punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.

The little snowflakes were added to the centre of the embossed image, which to me looks a little like a large snowflake with dimensionals and of course I have added ‘bling’.

The Swirly Christmas Tree was stamped once in Night of Navy and then using the stamp-a-ma-jig stamped again a little off to the right in Marina Mist.  Looks a bit freaky but I love it :)

The sentiment is also from the same set and the ribbon is Marina Mist Taffeta Ribbon (retired).

Here is my card…

As easy as 1-2-3

Hi everyone,

It’s Sunday and it is time for a new challenge at Come and Get It and the challenge for this week is a 1-2-3 Challenge hence the title of my post.

You need to use:

1 – Ribbon

2 – Designer Papers

3 – Brads or Buttons

Sounds good doesn’t it?!  Well here is the link to the CAGI blog where you can see what the other Design Team members have created.

For my card I have used 3 of the Bitty Buttons, 2 different pieces of the Attic Boutique DSP and some Soft Suede Ribbon.

I punched out the flowers in Poppy Parade card stock with the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and used some glue to stick the buttons on to the card stock.  The buttons have been added to the DSP with dimensionals.

I have taken my card layout inspiration from Sketch n Stash’s current challenge, which is to use a past sketch of your choice.  They have some great sketches and I have chosen number 12.

Below is a picture of their sketch.

and here is my card….

Christmas Song

Hi everyone,

Hope that you are well and that your week is going fine.

It is still raining here and I do not believe that it is going away soon.  It is the type of weather were you want to stay indoors and craft !

We have a new challenge for you at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges which Julie has created and it is Christmas Carolers.  Interesting don’t you think!  Not sure well come over and check out what the other members of the Design Team have created.

My thoughts for this challenge immediately went to singing and as I want to go along with this idea I found myself being drawn to punch art once more.

As I really did not have any music sheets (yes I agree I could have printed something) and I did not have a stamp of a someone signing.

I found this great tutorial sometime ago on the internet of a reindeer singing. The tutorial can be found at Dawn Olchefske’s website.

I have added my own little twist to my little reindeer as I did not have all the punches and I have given him a bow tie instead of a ribbon around his neck.

Here’s a list of what I used:

Extra-Large Oval – his head in Crumb Cake

Small Oval – mouth (unfortunately retired) in Basic Black

1-3/4” Circle – Body in Crumb Cake

1-1/4” Circle – Tummy in Very Vanilla

Word Window – Legs, Arms and Hoofs in Crumb Cake & Basic Black

Swirls Scribbles – Antlers and Bow Tie in Chocolate Chip & Real Red

Owl Builder – Nose in Real Rd

His is book is in Real Red cardstock and measures 1” x 1-1/2”.  His teeth have just been cut with scraps of Whisper White Card Stock.  The reindeer has been added to the card with dimensionals.

The base card is Old Olive, there is a layer of Letters to Santa DSP down one side and I have stamped out a sentiment from the Word Play stamp set “Tidings of Comfort & Joy” because my reindeers is singing lots of Carols not just “Rudolph the Red Noise Reindeer”  - LOL!

Did you want to meet him?  Here he is:

Tea for Two

Hi everyone

Hope it is much warmer and not pouring with rain where you are as you read this post.  The cool winter weather seems to have hit us and the rain has decided to join in today.

But I cannot complain it is a long weekend here in Sydney so there is one more day to my weekend still to come :)

We have a new challenge at Come and Get It and if you are up for Colour Challenge you should have a look at what the other Design Team Members have created and join in!

The colours are So Saffron, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery and Wisteria Wonder.

The layout of my card has been inspired by the Clean and Simple 192 Challenge and I have used Wisteria Wonder for the base card and added a layer of Certainly Celery.  I then added a smaller layer of So Saffron and Whisper White.

The Whisper White has been embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Embossing Folder.  A scrap of Pretty in Pink cardstock was punched down one side using the Eyelet Border Punch and then I added some of the Wisteria Wonder Ruffled Ribbon.

The main image and the sentiment are from the Tea Shoppe Stamp Set which is in the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue.  Of course I have added some ‘bling’ to the card.

Here is my card:

Christmas Trifold Card

Hi everyone,

How has the beginning of your week been?  Good I hope!

It’s time for a new Christmas Challenge at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges and this week it is being hosted by Judy.  Judy’s challenge is to create a Trifold Card.

So if you are ready for a challenge and may need some inspiration from the other members of the Design Team or interested in see the types of Trifold cards you can create ?  Come and visit us at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges, you may even win a prize!

For my Trifold card I have created a Gatefold Card and the base cardstock is Perfect Plum.

The image is the sponsors image and I when I saw the image I immediately thought of using Perfect Plum and Tempting Turquoise to colour the Dove in but needed a third colour.  The third colour I decided to add was Wild Wasabi.

The image has been coloured in using the Aqua Painter and I have added some Soft Suede and So Saffron on the beak of the Dove.

The image and the layer of Wild Wasabi card stock have been cut out using the Labels Framelits in the Big Shot.  The Wild Wasabi layer of card stock has been embossed using the Square Lattice Textured Embossing Folder.

The Snowflakes on the front of the card have been stamped on the Perfect Plum card stock in Perfect Plum ink and are from the Snow Swirled stamp set.  The snow flakes on the inside of the card have been stamped in Perfect Plum, Wild Wasabi and Tempting Turquoise.

The trifold card has been held shut with two buttons from the Subtles Designer Buttons which have been added to the card front with dimensionals.  I have also added ‘bling’ to the inside of the buttons and on a couple of the snow flakes.

Here is my card:

Flowers and Butterflies

Hi everyone,

Wow, I am back from Convention and it has been a great couple of days.  I caught up with lots of people, made some new friends and got some great new ideas.

But for now I am helping my daughter complete an assignment and getting ready for the next week – it does not take long to fall back into the ‘normal’ routine :)

Its time for the new weekly challenge at Come and Get It and it has to be one of my favourite combinations – Flowers and Butterflies.

If you haven’t had a chance to participate in any of the challenges yet – give this one ago and if you need some inspiration pop over to the CAGI blog and have a look at what the other Design Team Members have created.

For my card I have used Soft Suede for the base card and I stamped some of the flowers from the Field Flowers stamp set on Very Vanilla.

I have used my markers Soft Suede and Pear Pizzazz for the leaves and stems of the flowers and the flowers are created using two step stamps. My colours are Bashful Blue and Marina Mist.

My butterflies of course have been created using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die and they have been layered together in a combination of Bashful Blue, Marina Mist and Very Vanilla cardstock.

The Color Spritzer Tool has been used with Crumb Cake and Daffodil Delight markers to add a little bit of colour.

A scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock has been punched out using the Modern Label punch and stamped with ‘for you’ and this sentiment is from the Clearly For You stamp set.  I have also added a vintage brad to one end and daubered with Soft Suede.

The top of the card and down one side has been torn and the edges rolled and I added some retired Soft Suede Ribbon along the bottom of the card.

Here is my card:
